These courses are aimed at those who want to gain the basic skills and confidence necessary for work and everyday life. The week is divided between Educational sessions, work placements and community learning, throughout the course students could work towards several qualifications. The main qualification are the NOCN progression award at entry 3 or level 1 and City & Guilds awards.
Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life objectives are to provide real Employment experience and Education opportunities for individuals with Support Needs.
Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life staff have experience of working with individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities and other Vulnerable Individuals.
Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life offers the opportunity to learn new skills, occupy the day, meet new friends, regain lost self-respect and develop a future.
Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life approach is to positively challenge people with real responsibility while supporting them with training and routines. We are committed to the principle of encouraging and enabling the workforce to achieve success within a framework of core values.
Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life offer a wide range of work which includes garden maintenance, work experience and Independent Living Skills. Our vision is that at some time in the near future each project will run a small business, trading with the local community with a strong emphasis on everyone in the workforce sharing the responsibilities of running the business.
There will be opportunities to undertake different activities during the duration of the project which would include Travel training (with Support) which could mean students traveling by train to York and other destinations.
We would also support Students to open a Bank account and learn how to budget and pay bills, there will also be opportunities for students to take part and join in physical activities at various gyms also activities take place at a variety of locations depending on the sport. Our students will try activities like cycling, football, tennis and rock climbing through out Sheffield. During the course of the Foundation for Learning and Life project there will be opportunities for students to prepare themselves to live a more independent life which would include overnight stays (with support from Spectrum Social Care Staff) at one of Spectrum`s short break / respite / independent living houses.

The goal of independent living programs is to provide vulnerable individuals with the support, instruction, and opportunities to practice the necessary independent living skills and acquire the knowledge to become independent adults.
Spectrum Social Care will aim to provide supported Employment through the Foundations for Learning and Life project. Spectrums Foundation for Learning and Life among its many features provides job search tools, career guidance, and resources pertaining to education and employment.
